Week 92

Well this week we put a few baptismal dates with some people we are working with. One of them is named Melani. She is 13 and she wants to get baptized, but its hard for her to come to church because her mom who is less active doesn’t understand the reason she needs to go to church, and she doesn’t help her daughter get up and off to church.

We also have been teaching Enzo and Cristian. Cristian just had a baby, so I think that he will start to think more about his future right now, so that will be good for him to get involved in the church. Both of them will get baptized here in a little bit.

Also Valeria has all the lessons. She wants to get baptized and everything, but she is just playing the waiting game, waiting on lawyers to get the divorce papers filed so she can get married.

We also have Kiara. She will be baptized the 15 of this next month.

Tambien, we found an African American named Greg. He is pretty cool. He speaks Spanish, Portuguese, and French, and English. So I talked a little in French, and a little in English, and a little in Spanish, and need to work on my Portuguese though, Haha. We didn’t get to help him to church this week, but I’m sure he will get baptized here in a bit too.

We have a lot of people ready to be baptized here already. Well this has been a pretty good week.

Love you all,
-Elder Newman

Tell Jeff I got his part of the package.
[This is an ongoing joke from a ward member. Elder Newman and his brother used to gather up all the sacrament meeting programs and put them all in Jeff's truck for him to find after church. Jeff has gathered the programs up a few times since they've been gone and asked us to put them in packages when we send them. I'm sure it's fun for them to receive this fun gift from home. Haha!]

Week 91

Bueno, it’s pretty cold here and yes I still use a scarf. It’s the only thing keeping me from getting sick, jaja.

We have found two kids that I am positive will get baptized, and then I think their families will also get baptized later on. Then we also have contacted a lot of people. This transfer my comp and I have the goal to help 6 people get baptized. I’m pretty sure we can reach our goal, but it’s going to take a good amount of effort and some luck, and when I say luck I mean people making good decisions.

We are still in the same area as Zone leaders and we are working hard talking to tons of people. Well that about it. I’ll send the pics in a bit.....Elder Newman

Week 90

Well I don’t have too much time. I had to wait for my comp to get here in San Martin to be able to write, and his bus got here late so we couldn’t write Monday. Then Tuesday we had to go to a liders [leaders] conference ( I don’t know the name in English...Consejo de lideres).. and right now I have to keep everything short to be able to get back to my area in time to not show up late for lunch.

We taught a few new people, and we said goodbye to some people with Elder Sorenson. He left the zone and is now in El Bolson. My new comp is Elder Nelson. He is one of the missionaries that arrived here with me.

Well that’s about it. Love you all!

Week 89

Well not a ton happened this week. Junín had two baptisms, aguante Zona San Martin!! Valeria came to the baptism and almost cried. She loved it! She wants to get baptized but we just need to help her get married. We did interchanges [exchanges] with the elders in Junín, put a fecha bautismal [baptismal date], and found a lot of good people.

Last week we went on a hike, and we got some cool pics. Also the husband of Valeria, Cristian Marchena, gave me a pair of shoes because mine are destroyed.

Also we got the first snowstorm this week, but it didn’t stick so it’s all mud now. But you’ll see a pic of me and my fatman coat.

Next week is transfers, just so you all know. And I hope I stay. There are a lot of good people I want to help get baptized here.

Well that’s all for now. Love you all.
