Week 58

Bueno, this week was a pretty good week. We were able to get a total of 9 lessons in. That’s pretty good for being in the office.

I also did the interviews for a kid and his mom to get baptized. The sister missionaries were going to have the mom wait one more week to get baptized, but the truth is it would have meant a lot more for her to be baptized with her son. She didn’t have all the lessons, so during the interview with her son the sisters taught her the law of chastity and the law of tithing. We did the interview, and it went well, so we decided she could get baptized the next day. It was a good surprise for her. She is doing everything for her son. They were both baptized and had a great experiencia.

Other than that, I did some more legal stuff with missionaries. We talked to a lot of drunk people again. I don’t know what it is, but a lot of the drunk people and the people that are high on drugs like to talk to us.

This last Saturday we went to an investigator’s house and when we walked into his yard we saw him smacking the ground with a brick. We thought he had gone crazy. When we asked him what he was doing, he said he was killing theses little things. We looked down, and we realized that the ground was covered with ticks. I have never seen so many ticks in all my life. I had to brush one off my leg and shake a few off of my boot. Then he invited us to sit down and talk, so we sat down and talked for a bit. I kept brushing ticks off my boots and making sure nothing was crawling on the bench. When we got done with that lesson, we went to the office and made sure we didn’t have any of those blood suckers in our clothes or on us. After that we went to the baptism of Natalia y Juaquin.

Well that’s about all that happened this week. It’s getting super hot here, and it’s not even the hottest part of the year yet.

Well that’s all for now. Love you all,
Elder NuevoHombre

I took a picture next to the Limay painting here in Neuquén.

I got another picture with Fabian, the boss of the police.

Sorry, the picture with Juaquin is a little blurry.

Week 57

Well we didn’t do too much teaching this week. We have talked to a lot of people, but we can’t get a second visit with them. They are just "always busy" jaja. We have also been in a lot of meetings, and I have been super busy. We have about 15 missionaries going home, and I have to buy their tickets and get everything prepared for them. I also have to do a lot of legal stuff this next week, because a lot of missionaries their papers are going to expire.

Ya, we taught a total of 5 lessons this week. It’s rough here, but we are sticking through it. I wish we had a little more luck getting into people’s homes to teach them, but that’s just not how it is here. The good thing is we have found some good people, but we haven’t been able to have that daily contact with them to help them progress.  This next week will be better.

It’s raining pretty hard today. Our whole mission has to stay inside for the day.

Love you all,
Elder Nuevohombre

Just me and my comp with some cake.

Me and some missionaries at some meetings.

Today it rained a lot so we went out into the street to take some pictures.

Week 56

Well I’m glad to hear everything is going good back home. Things are going pretty good here. I’ve done a lot with the legal system here, and coming up here in the near future we are going to do some brown nosing with the migrations workers and boss. I was talking to President, and he said with the left over paint that we had from painting the pension, we could maybe go and paint their office because it is a mess inside there. That would get us some brownie points with the people there, and it might make them happier.

We made about 7 missionaries legal this last week, so I’m pretty happy, and it keeps getting better. We finally got some good investigadores. The only thing is, they are all super hard to find and teach; but they accept the gospel, and they have a lot of good questions.

One guy ran down the other missionaries that are in the office, and asked them if he wanted to repent what would he have to do. They were more than happy to teach him a little in the street, and then they passed us the reference so that we could go teach him. This happened Saturday, and we still haven't been able to teach him. But we are trying very hard to find him so we can help him know about the power of the atonement and help him change his life.

We got 6 lessons in this week, so that was super good for our area. We are progressing very slowly, but we are making progress.

Yesterday was el Dia del Madre aqui (Mother's Day), so everyone was busy and we did a lot of walking and contacting. Plus it was raining, so it was super fun. I really don’t mind the rain, at least for the area here. There is not a ton of mud. Working in the office is fun. You are always busy and it seems like you don’t have time for anything, but its super fun.

Well that’s about all for this week. Maybe I’ll think of something more to say when I’m sending pictures.

Cho, Elder Nuevohombre

Oh and a big shout out to my Grandma Judy! Thanks for writing me so much. I love getting letters. This past month I got one every week from her. It was really nice. Thanks Grammy!

Me and my comp, and him telling me I shouldn't take a picture like that....

Us and Juan Carlos.. He is an investigador (that isn’t progressing very well), but we pass by every now and then to see how he is.

Week 55

It’s good to hear you guys are all having fun and safe. This week was a good week. We have this family we are trying really hard to teach. We have only been able to give them short lessons on their door step. They like all of it, they just don’t have time. The mom really likes the church for the youth programs and the standards we teach our kids. That’s what has caught her attention. When we teach them inside, we are definitely teaching the Plan of Salvacion and talking about eternal families.

It was great yesterday the family came to church wooooo¡¡¡ I haven’t been able to get anyone to come to church for 4 transfers or something like that, so this was a great day. I was beginning to think that I was working super hard for nothing, and that no one wanted to listen. It really was a big trial of patience. I really think this family will be baptized. Today their son went with the youth to the church house in Cipolletti to hang out and play some soccer. I hope that goes well for him.

Conference was great. It really urged people to do all they can to share the gospel with their friends and other people. Other than that I can’t remember anything we did this week.

I saved the truck of the mission. There was a leak in a hose that was leaking antifreeze pretty bad, and no one knew that we didn’t have any antifreeze in the tank. It was a good thing I checked it. Normally we aren’t supposed to touch anything with the truck, but we had to go and buy a ton of antifreeze to put in it so that it could last until we went to the mechanic. I’m surprised we didn’t destroy anything in the engine. Right now it’s in the shop, and we are here without a car. We have to take a lot of taxis.

That’s about it. If you have questions, haganmelas [let me know].
Gracias les amo, - Elder Nuevohombre

Watching General Conference...

Hermana Larson is going home, and she gave all the Elders a new tie...

Hermana Larson's parents came to Argentina to pick her up, and they delivered contacts and a jar of peanut butter from home...

While the Larson's were here, they took the Elders of the office out to lunch... Gracias Larson familia!

Week 54

Well this week is transfers so I have been good and busy. I’ve had to spend about 10.000 pesos in bus tickets. It’s been pretty stressful, but we are about done with all the plans. Now I have to get all the people that are going home all ready, and I also have to get all the stuff ready for tramites for the new missionaries that are going to get here Wednesday.

Mi and Elder Mendoza went on a little road trip to take a bunch of closets and desks out of my old pension in Heurgo because they are going to open it. Hopefully they will baptize the people we visited (Nerio y Maria) y (Raul). I’m super excited for them.

Also one night a Sister had to go to the hospital, so me and Elder Ortiz took her and her comp. in the truck do go see the doctor, and we were there at the doctor until 1:30 at night. I was so tired the next day, President let me and Ortiz take a nap in the office. It was great. I have a picture of mi and Ortiz in front of the hospital with a coke.

We haven’t been able to teach at all this week. We’ve been super busy. Hopefully the next week we will be able to do something in our areas.

That’s about it for this week. We did some tramites and stuff. The conference was great. I forgot my camera, so I don’t have a picture of how we have the office set up. Maybe next week we will be able to.

Well I love you all. If you have any questions, ask away.

Love you all -Elder Nuevohombre

PS.....we still can’t get packages.

Elder Ortiz and I in front of the hospital at 1 in the morning with a Coke!
